The man who spent almost a decade working alongside Prince Harry and Prince William has expressed his hope that the estranged siblings will one day be reunited. Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, 66, a former royal and SAS soldier, served as Private Secretary to both princes for eight years before stepping down in 2013.Promoting her forthcoming book ‘Beyond the Edge of Light’, Mr Lowther-Pinkerton gave a rare insider’s view on the relationship between King Charles’ two children, describing them both as brave and courageous. His comments come as Prince Harry prepares for an important visit to the United Kingdom in July, marking the one-year countdown to the Attictus Games in Birmingham.

The Lowther-Pinkerton connection to the royal family spans many years. She served as Queen Mother from 1984 to 1986, followed by her role as Private Secretary to the young princes and their future mothers-in-law. His position made him able to influence the development and control of Harry and William’s life during their formative years.The former army chief is now godfather to Prince George, second in line to the throne, a role he has taken on with great devotion. As for her current role, Ms Lowther-Pinkerton admitted that while she may not be around all the time, she makes the most of the opportunity to be involved with the royal family. “It sounds bad, but I’m a good god when it’s time to have fun,” he told The Times.

Reflecting on her time with the princes, Lowther-Pinkerton spoke with love and respect for both boys. He also described William, whom he portrays as a protective lion, as a person who has been a person of great responsibility since childhood.It was the brothers’ military service that Lowther-Pinkerton said showed their character and dedication to duty. He explained that during the years he was wearing the uniform, he felt that it was important for all of them to perform their duties with integrity and skill. “When they were soldiers, it was important for them to do it well and properly,” he said.Describing her ten years with them, Lowther-Pinkerton explained that her approach was focused on helping them achieve reality. “That’s how I saw the ten years that I had, mainly to prepare well so that he could say, as my Anglo-Irish father used to say, ‘I’ve known the days. I’ve done it,'” he thought.

Harry and William have received many accolades for their military service, with Harry serving several tours of duty in Afghanistan. William, meanwhile, showed exceptional skill and courage in his role as a helicopter pilot, carrying out rescue operations in difficult areas across British waters and difficult terrain.“Harry served in Afghanistan twice and with William you can look anyone in the eye whether you’re flying a Sea King on a regular basis through squadron 8, force 9, in the middle of the Irish Sea or in the North Atlantic to pick up a sick worker or fly down the slopes of Snowdonia in the wind,” said Lowther-Pinkerton.

Despite reports circulating that the two brothers have not spoken since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, Mr Lowther-Pinkerton remained optimistic about their future relationship. When asked directly about the differences between them, his answer was familiar but optimistic.“I’m always a believer,” he said. “I think it’s best I leave the matter of Harry. All I can say is that I love him very much.” His cautious words show that he is interested in the issues that may arise between the two brothers, but at the same time, he is hopeful that they will be together again in the future.

Harry will travel to London in July with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
