‘Cocktail 2’ starred the new rom-com Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandannasaw a huge decline at the box office on its first Monday. The film, which had a strong start at the box office in its opening weekend, took a big hit on Monday, earning around Rs 6.35 crore nett in India on Day 4.After a strong opening weekend, the romantic drama saw a weekday decline. On Monday, the film reported a 64.2% drop in numbers as it played in 9,785 screens.The film opened its theaters with an impressive opening day collection of Rs 13.50 crore nett. The positive response from the audience helped the film to grow over the weekend, earning Rs 16.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 17.75 crore on Sunday. With Monday’s earnings added to its tally, ‘Cocktail 2’ has now earned Rs 53.85 crore in India collections. Currently, the collection of this movie in India is currently at Rs 64.56 crore.The film has continued to dominate the international markets. On day 4, it added Rs 1.50 crore overseas, taking its total overseas earnings to Rs 20.75 crore. As a result, the film’s worldwide collection has risen to around Rs 85.31 crore.‘Cocktail 2’, directed by Homi Adajania, acts as a sequel to 2012’s ‘Cocktail’ and has a new cast with Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika in the lead roles, taking over from Deepika Padukone, Diana Penty and Saif Ali Khan.The film’s box office performance has also helped it earn a place among Shahid Kapoor’s richest films. With an Indian collection of Rs 53.85 crore, the film has already climbed to the seventh position in the list of highest grossing films. It is now approaching the lifetime collection of ‘Haider’ (2014), which earned around Rs 55.93 crore nett in India.If the film continues to gain momentum in the coming days, it might surpass the all India collection of Rs 84.85 crore by Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s previous collaboration, ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’. Meanwhile,’Padmaavat‘is’Kabir Singh‘ remain the richest theatrical films.
