Yamaha Motor India today launched the new Yamaha Aerox E electric scooter in the Indian market, priced at Rs 2.81 lakh (ex-showroom). Interested customers can book an e-scooter online or visit their nearest location; Shipments are expected to begin soon. Aerox E is the second electric scooter in India after EC-06. Talking about the powertrain first, the Aerox is powered by a 9.5kW motor paired with two 1.5kWh removable power packs. Together, they deliver 48Nm of torque, and Yamaha says the setup uses high-performance cells designed to improve performance and efficiency. The electric scooter claims to cover up to 106km on a single charge and tips the scales at 139kg which is about 13kg more than the ICE Aerox 155. The Aerox-E comes with several riding modes – Eco, Standard, and Power – along with a unique Boost system that provides faster performance in rough terrain. Hardware braking includes a front disc with ABS and a rear disc, ensuring strong stopping power.

The scooter uses telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. It comes with 14-inch alloy wheels at both ends, while front and rear disc brakes, supported by single-channel ABS, provide braking. A TFT instrument panel connected to the smartphone supports regular navigation, weather information, as well as call and SMS notifications. In terms of design, the Aerox-E carries forward the sporty DNA of its petrol sibling. Powerful twin LED headlights and sleek LED tail lights remain prominent, maintaining a sharp, powerful look. What’s new, however, is the addition of a TFT instrument panel connected to the handset, instead of the usual LCD seen on the ICE model. Yamaha says it has also improved the ergonomics to make the electric model more enjoyable to ride. The electric version also has some minor changes, including blue accents around and the floor space has been reduced due to the placement of the batteries and the revised styling.
