Vindu Dara Singh has revealed about his previous marriage to the actress and his sister Tabu, Farah Naaziadmitting that his father, a fighting legend Dara Singhhe had warned her about the problems that come from living in a family of different religions. While talking to Kadak, Vindu thought about his father’s advice which he chose not to follow. While stressing that he has no regrets because the marriage gave him his son Fateh, the actor said that Dara Singh’s worries were ultimately justified.
‘My father told me Hindu and Muslim marriages it’s very difficult’
Recalling the discussion, Vindu said that his father was generally a man who believed in religious harmony and did not discriminate between people.“We belong to a society that believes Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian – everyone is a brother. That was my father’s words all the time,” Vindu replied. However, when he expressed his desire to marry Farah Naaz, Dara Singh reportedly gave a warning.“He told me, ‘Vindu, there is one more thing. Hindu-Muslim marriage is very difficult.’The actor recalled that he was confident that things would go well. When I told him that I wanted to marry Farah, he said, ‘It’s very difficult Vindu, in the end things go wrong. I told them, ‘Father, nothing is wrong.’ He said, ‘Think carefully. These things are difficult in the end.’
‘I’m not worried because I have Fateh’
In retrospect, Vindu admitted that his father had a point, although he stressed that he does not regret his decision.“I have no regrets because I have Fateh, a wonderful son whom I love more than my life. But it was right.”The actor used his experience to emphasize the importance of listening to his parents.“Always remember that parents give us advice, but we don’t listen to it. We think, ‘What does he know?’ But they know more than we do. They have many events and they are your Gods.”He also said: “We think we are very wise and we know everything. But when they stop you or warn you, in most cases that is a sign from God.”
‘Religion was the real reason’
When asked if religion played a major role in the end of his marriage with Farah Naaz, Vindu answered bluntly.“Absolutely.The actor explained that religion was not a conflict between them at first.“Religion was natural among us. But suddenly he started praying a lot.According to Vindu, the change created a gap that was difficult to navigate.“We’ve never had such a high level of religion among us. So when you suddenly become very religious, problems arise. That, in my opinion, is the main reason.”
Dara Singh’s message of religious unity
Interestingly, despite his warnings about interfaith marriages, Vindu said that his father continued to strongly believe in religious unity throughout his life.He recalled a poem written by Dara Singh before his death, which celebrated unity among different religions.“Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian — all are brothers,” Vindu quoted the poet as saying. The actor said the poem emphasized that although different spiritual leaders may show different paths, they all go to their destination.
‘We are all one’
Vindu concluded by repeating what he had inherited from his father.“We are all one.”Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement, he added, “Like Modi ji says, ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.’ Don’t try to divide us, don’t try to break us. We are all one and will remain one.Vindu and Farah Naaz got married in 1996 and later got divorced. The couple had a son, Fateh Randhawa. Although he acknowledged the challenges he faced, the actor said he is still grateful for the friendship and family it has given him.
