Toyota Ebella electric transmission starts: Range, price, specifications

Toyota India recently launched the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella electric SUV in the Indian market. And now, deliveries of the electric SUV have begun. Based on the Suzuki e-Vitara, the Ebella EV shares many of its key features with its Maruti counterpart. The unveiling is an important step for Toyota, entering the EV segment in the Indian market with a mid-size electric SUV that will take on competition from the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara.Toyota has priced the Ebella E3 at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme, offered at a starting price of Rs 15.25 lakh, battery usage costs Rs 4.99 per km. Ebella is offered in three versions: E1, E2 and E3. The top-of-the-line E3 is priced Rs 3.60 lakh cheaper than the comparable Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, which is priced at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Toyota has yet to announce pricing for the E1 and E2 trims.Urban Cruiser Ebella is available in two battery options – 49kWh or 61kWh battery. The 49kWh battery will come paired with a single motor mounted on the front axle, which produces 144hp. The large 61kWh battery also gets the same engine, but here it produces 174hp. Both motors produce the same 189Nm of torque. In terms of range, the EV has a range of 440 km with a 49 kWh battery, while the larger 61 kWh model is 543 km on a single charge.Smartly, the EV gets a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.1-inch infotainment screen supported by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cloud-based navigation, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting with 12 color options and ventilated front seats. Apart from that, it gets features like wireless charging, JBL sound system, climate control, multiple USB ports, and an air conditioner inside the cabin. In terms of safety, the model gets seven airbags as standard, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS functions such as Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and more.Image source: Capital Toyota/Instagram
