And now, the actress-producer Pallavi Joshi recently revealed the gender pay gap that existed in the television industry in the 1990s. He said that even though he was one of the most popular actors at the time, he received very little money compared to his male counterparts.Palavi he remembered the time when he was an actor Shekhar Suman they were considered the highest paid stars of Indian television. Sharing anecdotes from that time, he said in a chat with IANS, “I will tell you that there was a time when there was a cover page of a magazine that had Shekhar Suman and my photo. I think it was because Shekhar Suman and I were the highest paid actors on TV in those days.”However, he said that even at the peak of his TV career, his salary was nowhere near that of Shekhar. Explaining the pay disparity in the industry, Pallavi said, “Shekhar Suman used to earn double what I earned. Even though I was the highest paid television actor, I was still paid half of what he paid. That says it all.”Pallavi Joshi was one of the most popular personalities of Indian television in the late 1980s and 1990s, she was praised for her popular performances like ‘Mriganayani’, ‘Talaash’ and ‘Aarohan’. Known for choosing strong, content-driven roles, he has built a reputation as one of the most respected in the industry. Meanwhile, Shekhar Suman rose to fame during the same period through television shows including ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’, ‘Wah Janaab’ and ‘Movers & Shakers’.On the work front, she has recently been garnering praise for her performance in the recently released serial ‘Margao Files’.
