Randeep Hooda has revealed that he chose not to follow the work instructions given by Salman Khaneven admitting that it was “good advice.” The player said that when all Salman and his father encouraged him to pursue hero roles and create a similar image, he decided to take a different approach to avoid repetition as a drama.Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Randeep reflected on his unorthodox choices and explained why he prioritizes challenging roles over fame.
‘Salman told me not to take roles where I don’t look like a hero’
Recalling the advice he received from Salman Khan, Randeep said, “His (Salman Khan’s) biggest advice was not to take roles where I didn’t look brave. It’s good advice… My father also says the same thing. Then, he said, ‘You have to look the same and do the same work, that will help you get an image and become a star.’However, the actor admitted that he deliberately chose not to follow that path.“I didn’t follow the instructions because I’ve always felt that playing the same thing over and over again is boring. And I didn’t want to do it,” he said.
‘You can’t point at me’
Randeep also said why he considers it a compliment when people say he can’t imitate.“It’s because you can’t point to me. In every role, I speak in a different tone, and sometimes, my actual voice is different,” he said. While admitting that having a popular character can help an actor become a star, Randeep said it was not his main goal.“I’m not saying it’s not a big thing. But how do you stay fresh for years? Can you start sleeping with your responsibilities? Can the gym be the only place you do it? So, I didn’t follow his advice. However, you don’t know what’s in the future,” he added.
Randeep and Salman shared the screen space three times
Although they chose a different path, Randeep Hooda and Salman Khan have worked together in three films-Kick (2014), directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, Sultan (2016), directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, and Radhe (2021), directed by Prabhu Deva. While Kick and Sultan proved to be huge hits at the box office, Radhe received a mixed and negative response from critics and audiences.
