Hyundai Motor India today announced the launch of the Hyundai Creta under the BaaS (Battery-As-A-Service) program. This brings down the base price of the EV SUV to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the battery-as-a-service model, rental rates start at Rs 3.9 per kilometer, which helps reduce the initial purchase cost. For buyers who prefer full ownership, the Creta Electric is available at a starting price of Rs 18.03 lakh (ex-showroom).Along with announcing BaaS design, Hyundai has also added an integrated feature to select designs, which aims to improve accessibility. The EV also comes with a 7.4 kW AC wall charger. Previously, buyers of the top models were offered an 11 kW AC wall charger. Irrespective of the model chosen, all Creta Electrics continue to have a dashboard as standard.
The Creta Electric is offered in seven variants and with two battery options – 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The 42kWh battery has a range of 420 km, and the main unit of 51.4kWh provides 510 km. The battery pack comes paired with one electric motor, which produces 135 PS with a small 51.4 kWh battery and 171 PS with a large 51.4 kWh battery. Using a fast DC charger, the EV can go from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes. The long range can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It also gets three modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. Intelligence-wise, the Creta EV will get two 10.25-inch screens – one for infotainment and one for the instrument panel, it will also get a new steering wheel as seen on the Kona sold abroad. Other features include panoramic sunroof, ventilated and power seats, climate control, vehicle technology (V2L), 360-degree camera, digital key and ADAS suite. The Creta EV also comes with Level 2 ADAS, offering features like Lane Keeping Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning, and Smart Cruise Control with stop-and-go.
