The Department of Health Research (DHR) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has opened applications for the overseas scholarship program for the academic year 2026-27.This fellowship program is offered under the Human Resource Development (HRD) program and aims to help Indian researchers acquire advanced training and stay abreast of the latest developments in health, biomedical and clinical sciences through collaboration with leading international institutions and scientists.According to DHR, the program is open to Indian researchers, faculty, scientists and healthcare professionals seeking professional training and research experience in emerging areas of health and biomedical sciences.There are two categories of scholarship programs. Under short-term overseas scholarships, selected candidates can undergo training ranging from 15 days to 3 months. Applicants must be under 57 years of age as of the last date for submission of application.Overseas long-term scholarships provide training opportunities ranging from 6 to 12 months. Candidates applying under this category must be below 45 years of age on the closing date of application.

Applications must be submitted online via ICMR Scholarship Portal.Interested candidates can check the detailed eligibility criteria, application format, terms and conditions etc. guidelines on the DHR website.The last date to submit your application is June 30, 2026 at 5 pm (IST). Applicants are advised to go to the official website to verify details before applying.DHR also clarified that the selection process is competitive. Applying to a specific international institution does not guarantee a scholarship. The department further noted that grants under the Human Resource Development Scheme require regular review of progress and availability of funds.
