Cases relating to the death of Zubeen Garg they have entered a new phase. The Supreme Court of India has issued a notice on the bail application filed by the organizer of the event Shyam Kanu Mahanta. The case is related to the investigation into Garg’s death during a cruise in Singapore in September 2025. A bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Joymalya Bagchi ordered the Govt Assam answer. The notice is set to be returned by the end of July.
The bail plea was granted after the High Court rejected it
According to Live Law, the plaintiff approached the Supreme Court after the Gauhati High Court rejected his appeal on May 29. Mahanta is in jail from October 1, 2025. His arrest is in connection with the ongoing investigation into the matter. At the meeting, the senior Advocate Siddharth Dave argued for bail. He said: “A person dies because of drowning.” There is no flight risk, I have no money, my passport is saved,” as I beg to be released from prison.
