Nearly seven weeks after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) concluded the second board examination for Class 10 2026, thousands of students are still waiting for the results and anxiety is growing on social media.The last exam will be held on May 21, 2026. As of July 9, 2026, it has been 49 days since the exam ended, but CBSE has not announced the date and time for releasing the results. While the board has remained mum on an official timetable, multiple reports indicate results could be released this week, but no formal confirmation has been released.The long wait prompted students and parents to flock to X (formerly Twitter) to question the delay and express concerns about the pending admissions to Grade 11.
More than 668,000 students await results
The second board examination, conducted from May 15 to 21, is conducted under CBSE’s new dual-board examination system, giving eligible students another opportunity to improve their scores in the same academic session.According to CBSE data, a total of 6,68,854 candidates have registered for the exam. These include 5,25,655 improvement candidates, 85,285 zonal candidates and 57,914 students belonging to both categories.Once declared, the board will prepare the final results adopting a best-of-twice policy according to which the higher marks obtained by the students in the first or second board examination will be considered for the final mark sheet.
Parents and students question delays
With many schools having already started Year 11 admissions, some parents said the delay had created uncertainty about stream allocation and fee payments.X User Rabia Hasan (@Rabiahasan368) wrote that her child scored 81.4% in the first board exam and is waiting for the second board result to secure admission to science.“Dear CBSE, My child has scored 81.4% in the first semester board exam of class 10 and wants to get admission in science course. The second exam result is still pending and the school has not confirmed the admission. Please release the result urgently.”Another user Rahul Mehta (@rahul_rvm82) questioned why the results were taking so long despite the inspection being concluded weeks ago.“What happened to CBSE? Why did it take so long for the second board exam results of Class 10 to come out?”He also claimed that students bear the consequences of the delay, noting that schools start calculating Year 11 fees in April while many admissions are still pending.Similarly, Mangesh Sharma (@Mangesh13377364) tagged Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and CBSE, demanding early declaration of results.“CBSE Second Board Exam Result 2026 is not out yet… The exam will be conducted on May 21, 2026. Dear Sir, please help.”Highlighting the financial burden on parents, another X user DINO (@DeependraEngg) said schools started charging fees from April even as many students are still waiting for admission confirmation after the second board results.This concern is also reflected in the online student community, with candidates saying the uncertainty is affecting their Year 11 admissions and academic planning.
Inaugural board results set high bar
Earlier this year, CBSE announced the results of the first class 10 board examination with an overall pass rate of 93.70%. Out of 24,71,777 students who participated, 23,16,008 qualified.Among these districts, Trivandrum and Vijayawada recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.79% respectively, followed by Chennai (99.58%) and Bengaluru (98.91%).
