The music for the film was created by the visuals and singers, Este Haim, Amanda Yamate, and music director Season Kent, who wanted the film to be as fun and romantic as possible with the help of music.In discussions with Netflix, the three decided to create a list of songs that should go into the film, and how the process felt to them. Yamate tried and shared that they were a good team, and they brought a similar sound to the video’s audio and input. He added, “We also listened to some of the old rom-coms to see how they connected the themes – it was really fun to do modern things. Leah was very open to us to be inspired by a lot of needle drops. I learned orchestral music. Este is a rock legend and she could come in and play bass and synths. We were a good team to deal with.”Kent, speaking about drawing inspiration from other romantic films, said, “We had a few rom-coms in our heads when we were putting the film together and finding our tone and footing. But Amanda and Este had their own vision that we put into the film very quickly.”Yamate added that the main point of the movie, “he tried to touch the heart and what it means to love your sister and maybe lose her. Este has his sisters. I have a sister.”
‘Voicemails for Isabelle’ plot
The plot of the film is based on Jill, a young pastry chef who has been struggling with the death of her sister. In order to deal with her death, she keeps sending messages to her sister’s number, not knowing that it has been sent to someone else. Enter real estate agent Wes, who lives in Austin, Texas, and is the recipient of his emails. This unexpected connection opens a lifelong bond between the two.
