NEW DELHI: Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his dream start to international cricket, making a stunning jump of 230 places in the latest ICC Men’s T20I batsmen rankings after starring in India’s 3-0 series win in Zimbabwe.The 15-year-old’s meteoric rise headlines the latest rankings update, while Ishan Kishan tightening its grip on the world No. 1 spot after recording the third highest batting average in T20I history during the Harare series.
Sooryavanshi’s dream continues
Sooryavanshi burst onto the international stage with a memorable series against Zimbabwe, scoring 151 runs in three matches at an average of 50.33. His performances, which included two half-centuries, won him the Player of the Series award and a remarkable rise of 230 places in the ICC rankings.The teenage opener is now ranked 48th among T20I batsmen with 536 rating points, marking a new career ranking.Although he is still trailing India’s senior stars, the jump underlines the rapid impact he has had in international cricket and cements his status as one of the game’s brightest young talents.
Ishan Kishan reaches a historic milestone
At the top of the batting rankings, Ishan Kishan maintained his position as the No. 1 batsman in the T20I world with 910 qualifying points, comfortably ahead of Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, who is second with 848 points.Kishan had briefly reached a career-high qualifying score of 916 after his brilliant 81 runs in the second T20I against Zimbabwe. This tally is the third highest batting tally ever recorded in T20I cricket, behind only Abhishek Sharma (931) and England’s Dawid Malan (919).Although his rating dipped slightly after the final match, Kishan’s career best figure of 916 remains higher than the peak figures achieved by Indian greats Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).As the ICC noted, “Sooryavanshi’s rating of 536 is well away from his more experienced teammates, but Kishan can now boast of having a better career batting rating than the most compatible Indian players like Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).
More earnings for India’s white stars
India enjoyed a productive week in the T20I rankings.Tilak Varma climbed two places to sixth among the batsmen, while captain Shreyas Iyer moved up seven places to 24 after the Zimbabwe series.Among the bowlers, Ravi Bishnoi moved up 31 places to 41st after his three wickets in the series. Varun Chakravarthy, who missed the round due to injury, dropped three places but finished in the top 10.Zimbabwe also had reason to celebrate despite the series defeat. Ryan Burl climbed six places to join 85th among T20I batsmen, while fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani rose 10 places to 26th in the bowling rankings.
