Actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay turned 52 on June 22, celebrating his birthday since assuming office. Wishes poured in from actors, political leaders and fans on social media, and the actress Keerthy Suresh shared a heartfelt message that reflects Vijay’s transition from a movie icon to a political leader.Based on X, Keerthy shared a picture with Vijay and wrote a special note celebrating the new chapter in her life.“For many years, your birthday meant waiting for the first look, teaser, trailer, or announcement of a new film. It became a tradition that we all looked forward to. This year feels different,” he wrote.

‘You are re-introducing yourself as a leader’

Keerthy went on to acknowledge Vijay’s shift from the silver screen to public service, saying that his latest role is perhaps the most important.“For the first time in more than ten years, no new character is introduced to the world. Instead, we see something more important. You are showing yourself again, not as a hero on the screen, but as a leader entering a new chapter of service and responsibility.”He added, “This year, we are celebrating the new look of the new journey, and we are all here to help you.”Concluding his message in Tamil, he wrote, “Happy birthday to the leader who lives in our hearts forever,” giving loving birthday wishes to the leader popularly known as Thalapathy.

Vijay’s political journey

Vijay is celebrating his first birthday as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu after making a smooth transition from cinema to politics. He joined the league of actors-turned-politicians like NT Rama Rao, MG Ramachandran and J. Jayalalithaa.In February 2024, Vijay announced his political intentions and confirmed that he would contest the 2026 elections in Tamil Nadu. He later formed his own political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and held its first meeting in October 2024. Since then, Vijay has traveled extensively across Tamil Nadu, speaking at public meetings, interacting with citizens and delivering his vision of government directly to the people.
