Filmmaker SS Rajamouli took a break from his ‘Varanasi’ shoot to go to Frace to interact with fans and share new details about ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1’.The director, who received recognition for his film ‘RRR’, attended the show at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France 2026, and explained why the organization is doing so well after two successful films – ‘Baahubali’ and ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’.

Speaking at the event, Rajamouli spoke about the scope of the universe of ‘Baahubali’ and its deep connection with Indian mythology, he said at the event, “‘Baahubali’ is heavily inspired by Indian mythology, you all know that. We were too limited due to filmmaking constraints and we weren’t doing it justice,” said Rajamouli.

The director went on to share his ‘secret’ by saying, “So, impossible, what we decided to do is that the original culture, the code culture, remained very deep in India, but we chose a visual language, which was universal. Wherever part of the audience sees the film, they can connect immediately.”Reflecting on the success of the first Baahubali films, he explained that the creative team had expanded this opportunity through dramas and films, but felt that they had not been able to act on feature films. This changed when director Ishan Shukla came up with an idea to explore ‘What happens if Amarendra Baahubali (after his death) goes to the 14 places of Indian mythology?’

Calling it “the way we need to continue with the Baahubali franchise as we want,” Rajamouli added, “in India, unfortunately, films are considered childish.” [medium]not more than that. Japanese Studio Joins ‘Eternal Warfare Part 1’
According to Variety, famous Japanese animation studio Studio Khara, best known for the Evangelion Franchise, has joined the upcoming movie ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1’ to produce a dedicated video for the movie.The collaboration has been facilitated by Japanese production company SlowCurve, which will oversee development and production between the Japanese and international production teams.
Prabhas returns as Baahubali
Back in the world of Baahubali, Prabhas will resume his career from action films, lending his voice to Amarendra Baahubali. Ramya Krishnan returns as the voice of Sivagami. Academy Award-winning composer MM Keeravani, who scored both RRR and the original Baahubali films, is composing the music for the cartoon film.
‘Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1’ plot details
After the end of ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’, the film follows the betrayed and posthumous princess Amarendra Baahubali, where he encounters an ancient world war between devas and asuras. Traveling through 14 living spaces, they form unlikely alliances and fight to restore nature.
