Due to the ongoing heat wave, the Bihar Education Department has revised the class timings of secondary and high schools across the state. The new schedule takes effect on June 22 and will last until June 30, 2026.According to the Bureau of Secondary Education, schools are now open from 6.30am to 12.30pm. This decision was taken to protect students from the extreme temperatures of the summer while ensuring that academic activities continue without interruption.According to the revised timetable, schools will begin at 6.30 am, followed by morning prayers and assembly until 7 am. Then each class is 40 minutes. Primary school recess and lunch times are from 9am to 9.40am. The last teaching period will end at 12:20 pm, after which the school authorities will spend 10 minutes reviewing the lessons learned, planning the next day and checking the students’ work.The department also empowered the District Magistrate (DM) to take additional measures depending on local weather conditions. If necessary, DMs can modify school operations or take other steps to ensure the safety of students in their district.
