President Droupadi Murmu presented the remaining Padma Awards 2026 with their honors at the second Civil Investiture ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 23. At the solemn ceremony there came Prime Minister Narendra ModiVice President CP Radhakrishnan, Home Minister Amit Shah, and several other distinguished guests.Among the award recipients was Malayalam movie icon Mammootty, who received the Padma Bhushan from the President. The veteran actor was joined at the event by his wife Sulfath, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan, and daughter Surumi, making the family proud.Legendary singer Alka Yagnik was also honored with Padma Bhushan. The singer, who has been suffering from dementia in recent years, was escorted to the stage by an assistant. Before receiving the award, he greeted the Prime Minister Narendra Modiwho sat in front, touched his feet as a sign of respect.A total of 65 Padma Awards were scheduled to be presented at the second ceremony, recognizing outstanding contributions in various fields.The list of recipients also included film-maker R Madhavan, who was awarded the Padma Shri, along with Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma. Veteran actor Satish Shah has been honored posthumously for his contribution to Indian cinema and television. Madhavan shared a moment with Prime Minister Modi before taking the stage to accept his Padma Shri. The second ceremony followed the first Civil Investiture ceremony, held on May 26, where 66 Padma Awards were presented. One of the most emotional moments of the event was the presentation of the Padma Vibhushan after the death of the famous actor Dharmendra, who died in November 2025.The Padma Awards remain one of India’s highest honors, celebrating outstanding achievement in a variety of fields including the arts, literature, sports, social affairs, science, and social work.
