The fate of Hera Pheri 3 seems to have taken another turn. A film producer Priyadarshan has confirmed that he no longer agrees with the high expectations, adding that he does not know if the film will make it to the big screen. The development comes after producer Feroze Nadiadwala said in an interview that Priyadarshan is not directing the third installment of the beloved drama.Confirming the news to Hindustan Times, Priyadarshan said, “What Feroze has said is true. I am not in agreement with Hera Pheri 3 at this time.”
‘Hera Pheri 3 will not hit the screens’
The filmmaker also went ahead and expressed doubts about the future of the project.“As far as I know, Hera Pheri 3 will not be shown again due to many legal issues and personal conflicts. “Whether I participate or not is irrelevant,” he told the publication. His words are bound to disappoint fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of the iconic trio and beloved franchise.
A film full of conflict
Hera Pheri (2000), directed by Priyadarshan, became a cult hit, while its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), directed by Neeraj Vora, was also a commercial success. However, the third sector has been plagued by many obstacles over the years. One of the biggest issues related to the legal dispute over Hera Pheri’s licensing rights. South-based company Seven Arts International claimed ownership of the license by its people, which Feroze Nadiadwala disputed. In the past, the spokesperson of Akshay KumarThe manufacturing house had also claimed that the rights were taken from Nadiadwala on the understanding that he was the owner. The film is expected to reunite the original singers – Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal-with Priyadarshan returning as the director. The project also faced a setback when Paresh Rawal left the film in May 2025 before returning.Interestingly, Akshay, Suniel and Paresh recently teamed up again for Welcome To The Jungle, another film produced by Feroze Nadiadwala.
