While appearing on Yuvaa’s Be A Man Yaar podcast, Imtiaz talked about the unexpected support coming his way. According to him, the most rewarding part has been watching people find their thoughts and experiences through the story of ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’. He said that many filmmakers, actors and artists have been encouraging people to watch the film in theaters without asking them.Sharing the memorable experience, Imtiaz said, “People love it Shekhar Kapur he calls me and asks, ‘What about today’s collections?’ I have never worked with him. Piyush Mishra sends me videos saying, ‘Resident of so-and-so house, mubarak.’ Subhash Ghai said, ‘Tereko Hero itni pasand hai, tujhe malum hai do hafte mein utar gayi thi. He also highlighted how ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ challenged the belief that a film’s fate is sealed in its first week.In his message, Kapur wrote, “Thank you, Imtiaz Ali. With your film Main Vaapas Aaunga, you broke the myth that the first week of box-office performance defines the future of the film. You proved that the most important thing is a good story, well told. What is important is respect for your audience.”
Strong growth for the second week despite the competition
Starring Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ opened to positive reviews but initially struggled to attract the masses. However, the fortunes of the film changed drastically in its second week as the audience sentiments translated to highs.The romantic drama reportedly showed a huge jump of 130 percent in its ratings despite facing competition from ‘Cocktail 2’. On its second Friday, the film collected Rs 1.90 crore, surpassing its opening days. The growth continued over the weekend, with Saturday’s collections rising to Rs 4.35 crore and Sunday witnessing another rise to Rs 5.75 crore. With strong audience support and continued support from the industry, ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ remains strong at the box office.
