Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has released the official notification and prospectus for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) Class 6 Admission 2027. Eligible students can now submit their applications for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) 2027-28 session.According to the official schedule, the last application date is July 31, 2026. The entrance exam will be held on November 28, 2026, and results will be announced in March/April 2027.The exam time is earlier than the previous two years.
Eligibility criteria
Students can only take JNVST once. To be eligible, candidates must meet all of the following criteria:
- They should study in Class 5 of a recognized school in the academic session 2026-27.
- They must be bona fide residents of the area in which they seek admission.
- They should study and complete Level 3, 4 and 5 courses at a recognized school.
- They must have been born between May 1, 2015 and July 31, 2017 (inclusive).
- Students who have already passed or repeated Level 5 are not eligible to apply.
New region-specific admissions rules
NVS has introduced district-specific admissions rules for this year’s admissions process. Students can apply only for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya located in their residential area.But if students study in nearby areas, the school must be located within 10 kilometers of the student’s residence by air. NVS will verify details during the admissions process. Even after provisional selection, applications submitted to the wrong region will be rejected.
JNVST 2027 Exam Pattern
Selection testing will be conducted in offline OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) mode.The test paper will contain 80 objective type questions, worth a total of 100 marks. Each correct answer will be worth 1.25 points, no points will be deducted for wrong answers.

Candidates must obtain the minimum passing score specified in each section. They can only mark their answers on the OMR sheet using a blue or black ballpoint pen as pencil is not allowed.NVS also advises candidates to double-check whether the numbers of the OMR sheet and the question paper are the same. Any discrepancies should be reported immediately to the supervisor.
