Guillermo Ochoa entered an exclusive list in the history of the FIFA World Cup, becoming only the third player since Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to be named in six World Cup teams. He is also the first goalkeeper to achieve the feat. The Mexico goalkeeper arrived during his team’s final Group A match against the Czech Republic in Mexico City on Wednesday. Ochoa came on as a substitute and added another chapter to a World Cup journey that began in 2006.Ochoa was part of Mexico’s World Cup teams in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026. Although he did not play a match in the 2006 and 2010 editions, he later became one of Mexico’s main players at the World Cup stage.Like Messi and Ronaldo, Ochoa has been included in every World Cup tournament since 2006.The milestone came on a successful day for Mexico, who completed a perfect group campaign with a 3-0 win over the Czech Republic. Having already secured qualification for the Round of 32, the hosts finished top of Group A after winning all three matches. After a goalless first half, Mexico took control after the break. Mateo Chávez opened the scoring early in the second half after breaking through the Czech defence, while Julián Quiñones added a second goal from close range.Ochoa was introduced later in the party, marking his historic appearance. Mexico sealed the win in stoppage time when Álvaro Fidalgo found the back of the net to make it 3-0.The win ensured Mexico finished the group stage with a 100 percent record and carried the momentum into the knockout rounds.
