Bollywood Actress Alia Bhatt he has said that he is helping flood-affected Assam, and has also urged his fans and TV followers to come together and support the government. Sharing a heartfelt message on her Instagram stories, Alia shared the magnitude of the crisis and asked her fans and fellow Indians to help.
Alia Bhatt lends support to Assam flood victims
In her statement, Alia wrote: “Right now, floods are affecting many parts of our country and Assam is one of the hardest hit, facing a very difficult time. More than 60 lives have been lost. Lakhs of people have been displaced. Entire families have lost their homes, their land, their livestock, and for some, even their loved ones.He went on to add, “It happens every year and it still affects us. Assam needs immediate relief right now, and will need help on the long road to recovery. If you’ve been wondering how you can help. I’ll be sharing a few ways we can support relief efforts over the next few days, through the organizations that are working on the ground.”
Salman Khan is supporting flood relief efforts
His request comes as floods in Assam continue to affect many people across the state. Bollywood star Salman Khan, with the help of his charity, has also partnered with Fan Club (SKFC) from Assam to start a charity project. The first phase is focused on distributing ready-to-eat food packets to families in Sivasagar, with transport from Guwahati.
About Assam floods
According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the floods continue to affect 3,32,639 people in 622 villages under 21 revenue zones in seven districts – Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon, Sonitpur and Kamrup (Metro). The floods have also severely disrupted agriculture, with several hectares of crops still submerged.
