Sri Lanka 360/5 in 88.5 Overs

WI vs SL 2nd Test Day 2 Live: Sri Lanka finished the opening day of the second Test in complete control, reaching 338/5 at stumps against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. Looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat in the series opener, the visitors produced a dominant batting display led by Lahiru Udara’s first Test century.

Udara headlines Sri Lanka’s commanding start

Udara starred with a magnificent 188, laying the foundation for Sri Lanka’s imposing first innings total. The opener shared a record 215-run partnership for the third wicket with Kamindu Mendis, who played an equally vital hand with a fluent 84.

The duo frustrated the West Indies attack for most of the day before the hosts finally made inroads at the end of the evening session.

Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva added a valuable 33 before becoming a landmark wicket for Jayden Seales, who claimed his 100th Test scalp.

West Indies looking for the first momentum on Day 2

The hosts opted for the second new ball late on Day 1, leaving just two over old ones on the second morning. With cool conditions expected to offer assistance, the West Indies will be hoping that their pace attack can make immediate breakthroughs and prevent Sri Lanka from posting a daunting first innings total.

Seales and Alzarri Joseph will be key to the home side’s chances as they look to expose Sri Lanka’s lower order before the visitors move past the 450-run mark.

Sri Lanka aim for a massive first innings total

Resuming on Day 2, Sonal Dinusha (5*) and Kusal Mendis (0*) will aim to build on Sri Lanka’s strong position. With five wickets still in hand, the visitors will be eyeing a total in the region of 450-500, which could put the West Indies under significant scoreboard pressure and boost their chances of leveling the series.
