The visitors struck twice with the new ball before Sri Lanka A recovered to end the day on 113/2, still trailing by 339 runs.
Summing up the day on 68 not out, Jurel made full use of the batting-friendly conditions and turned his overnight half-century into a superb hundred.
The wicketkeeper-batsman was unbeaten on 141 from 215 balls, an innings that included 13 fours and six sixes. He mixed caution with attacking strokes to keep India A firmly in check.
Shaik Rasheed, who resumed on 53, added just 10 more runs before falling for 63. The pair shared a valuable partnership that laid the foundation for India’s big total.
After Rasheed’s dismissal, Harsh Dubey joined his captaincy and played an important supporting role.
The all-rounder scored 30 from 51 balls, hitting two fours and a six, as he added 86 runs for the sixth wicket with Jurel before being dismissed by Chamika Gunasekara.
Gunasekara was the pick of the Sri Lanka A bowlers, claiming two more wickets on the second day after removing Rasheed and Dubey.
India A got off to the perfect start with the ball as Anshul Kamboj and Yash Thakur reduced Sri Lanka A to 38/2.
Kamboj dismissed wicket-keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella for 10, while Thakur bowled Pawantha Weerasinghe for 11 to put the hosts under pressure.
Sri Lanka A recovered through Nuwanidu Fernando and Ashen Bandara, who denied India A any further breakthroughs.
Fernando remained unbeaten on 65 off 103 balls, hitting seven boundaries, while Bandara was not out on 18 stumps.
The pair added an unbeaten 75 runs for the third wicket to take Sri Lanka A to 113/2 at the close of play.
India A entered Day 2 after finishing the opening day on 333/4, with Sai Sudharsan scoring 132. Jurel’s century helped the visitors extend their dominance before declaring on 452/6.
With a lead of 339 runs and Sri Lanka A still eight wickets in their first innings, India A remained firmly in control on Day 3.
