The ‘Chauhaan’ starrer was quietly replaced a week after Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub protested, his statement has now been replaced. Not only that, the version on YouTube also has a second version. All in all, eight days after the teaser Ajay DevgnWhen the upcoming film started getting leaked online, its makers quietly made two edits, one of which removed Ayyub’s voice from the introduction.
What has actually changed in the teaser
The teaser, which runs for a little over two minutes, opens initially with Ayyub’s voice delivering the first line before the rest of the voice shifts to Devgn. A look at the video on YouTube now, however, shows another explanation for that opening line. Along with the word change, the word “colone” in the discussion was also replaced with “colone.”
Back on the ‘pellet guns’ and the Kashmir display
Since the release of the teaser, both Devgn and the production banners behind ‘Chauhaan’, Jio Studios and Anandi L RaiColor Yellow Productions, was criticized for its “gunfire” content and for showing Kashmiri residents facing armed forces. Ayyub, an actor who is known to always support clear and thoughtful stories, was not left behind, many disagreed with his sarcastic words, saying they are “insensitive and divisive.”
The developers are silent on the changes
The backlash has come from several quarters, daily Hindi film watchers, political activists, and popular voices from Kashmir alike. However even Devgn, the director Neeraj Yadavor producers Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios, Rai, and Himanshu Sharma Color Yellow Productions has announced these two changes publicly. When asked by Mid-day for a comment, the producers chose not to respond.
