Indian captain Shreyas Iyer admitted his side slipped in all departments after England clinched the five-match T20I series with a nine-wicket win in the fourth T20I at the County Ground in Bristol.Despite crashing to 80 in 49 balls, Iyer said his personal performance meant little as India slumped to another heavy defeat, conceding the series with a match still to play.“Again, it was a disappointment. Definitely, 158 was not the perfect total on the board. And eventually we saw how quickly they bowled,” Iyer said after the match.India posted 158/7 after recovering from a top-order collapse, but England overhauled the target in just 13.5 overs thanks to an unbeatable partnership between Harry Brook and Phil Salt.Reflecting on India’s bowling effort, Iyer revealed the team’s plans but admitted that the bowlers did not execute consistently.“When we came to bowling, I just asked our bowlers to repeat the lengths as much as possible, because the top of the middle-stump and the leg-stump, it was very difficult to hit and score boundaries outside of it. So I think we fell a little bit in terms of our execution. We saw that when we changed the pace, when we tried something else, they scored. While Iyer’s batting knock was one of the few positives for India, the captain insisted on individual milestones that were of little value without a win.“Definitely happy with my performance, but if it’s not in the cause of winning, it just goes to the side. I’m disappointed because every time I play, I want to perform and see that my team wins. But unfortunately, today was not that day. Definitely wait for the next game,” he said.
