My father got a job in Perumbavoor, so our family moved there. My grandfather was from Perumbavoor. I was born, brought up and studied there. But since my mother was not fluent in Malayalam, I always spoke to her in Tamil. Till the day she died in Tamil. Even now, I have many relatives there. I visit our family temple once every year. He has been living in Chennai for over three decades

Jayaram said that his professional journey eventually led him to settle in Chennai, where he lived for many years.
