A potential quarter-final involving the home team would likely have generated much greater demand among fans. Portugal’s exit also played a major role in the drop in prices. Spain’s 1-0 win over Portugal isn’t just over Cristiano Ronaldo‘s FIFA World Cup career, but also eliminated one of the biggest global attractions of the tournament from the knockout stages. A quarter-final with the United States and Portugal had been seen as one of the tournament’s marquee possibilities, with the presence of Ronaldo and the host nation expects to drive demand for tickets even higher. Meanwhile, France’s quarter-final against Morocco at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough is currently the cheapest last-eight match on the secondary market. According to TickPick, tickets for the match are available from $989. The quarter-finals begin on Friday with France taking on Morocco after Didier Deschamps’ side beat Paraguay 1-0 in the round of 16, while Morocco advanced with an emphatic 3-0 win over co-hosts Canada. Spain will meet Belgium in the second quarter-final after the Red Devils eliminated the United States 4-1, while Spain remain the only team to concede a goal in this year’s tournament. Sunday’s action kicks off with Erling Haaland’s Norway taking on Harry Kane-led England before defending champions Argentina take on Switzerland in the last quarter-final.
