Vivek Oberoi became popular in the early 2000s in the film industry; however, later in life, his career declined. Following his much-publicized feud with Salman Khan, Oberoi faced a self-inflicted threat to the industry; however, he was the star and his best friend Akshay Kumar who stood beside him and helped him out. In a recent interview, the actor spoke about the time when he wasn’t acting in films or any other projects, and how the ‘OMG’ actor was one of the few people who helped him when no one else was ready.

Oberoi recalled that after he was down and beaten in the Bollywood industry in the early 2000s, it was Akshay Kumar who reached out to him with a helping hand. The actor, in an interview with Mirchi Plus, revealed that at that time he could not find a job, and was facing rejection from everything, no matter what.However, one day, Akshay Kumar called her. The actor revealed that Kumar reached out to him, and also listened to his concerns. He added, “Akshay Kumar, the superstar! He called me the other day and asked, ‘Where are you?’ I told him that I am at home, I am very upset. Half an hour later, he arrived at my house. He told me he wanted to be with me. Then he asked me about the problems I had.”He went on to talk about how the ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ organization told him that they would change some of the things they wanted to help him. “He said, ‘Look, I can’t do anything about all this, but I can help to make your best opinion’. Then he said that there are many shows going on, I have many blockbuster songs, and he is busy with shooting. Therefore, he cannot do these shows because of his busy schedule, and he can divert them to me”, Oberoi shared, adding that he was out of disbeliefski.Oberoi said, “They didn’t want to do that and asked me to take them. Kya baat hai! Who does this to a person?”

With the help of a fellow actor on shows and other projects, he was able to get good roles and even make good money at that time. He also said, “With that support, I started to go back to the stage, I started to see fans in the show, they were happy, and I had a positive attitude. I also got money. My frustration was that I am giving movies, they are making money, they are getting awards, but why am I still not getting a job? Why am I on strike?”Oberoi also said that instead of saying that he could take action on the strike, Kumar gave him a chance to work and deal with him. “So, he didn’t say I will represent you, I will fight the lobby, etc. He gave me a simple, effective way”, he shared.

Oberoi rose to fame with his first films, ‘Company’ and ‘Sathiya’; however, it was a comment he made against Salman Khan that landed him in the mud. At the press conference, the actor spoke about how Salman Khan threatened him, and how he did it because Aishwarya Rai was allegedly with Vivek after her breakup with the “Ek Tha Tiger” actor.
