JKBOPEE has started the third round of counseling or closing counseling process for admissions to BE and BTech courses during JKCET 2026. The online consultation process begins on July 3 and will run until July 5, 2026 (midnight). This round provides another opportunity for qualified candidates to fill the vacancies left after the second round.This round of mopping-up exercise was launched to fill the vacant seats that arose due to non-participation, resignation, seat relinquishment and non-availability of seats by candidates after the completion of the second round of counseling for the Union Territory Government of Jammu and Kashmir and private engineering colleges.
Sweep round aimed at filling vacant engineering seats
According to a notification issued by JKBOPEE, the latest round of consultation has been launched after universities reported insufficient admissions through the board’s online admission portal. Available seats include those vacated due to candidates deciding not to join the allotted institution or withdrawing from the admission process.The Board advises eligible candidates to participate within the stipulated time as no more requests will be entertained after the consultation window closes.
Who can attend JKCET The third round of counseling ?
JKBOPEE outlines the categories of candidates eligible for the third round of counseling. Candidates who did not have a seat allocated in the first or second round can participate in the mopping-up process. Those who secured seats in the previous rounds and successfully joined the allotted institutions are also eligible to participate in the upgrade, subject to consultation rules and seat availability.Candidates who were offered seats in the first round but did not appear, and candidates who resigned from their allotted institutes before the last date of attendance specified in the first round, can also appear in the third round for all available courses and institutions.
Restrictions on second-round non-joiners
However, the Board imposes certain restrictions on candidates who do not accept second-round allocations.Candidates who were allotted a seat in the second round but failed to get admission in the allotted institution will not be allowed to choose the same course in the same institution in the third round. However, they are still eligible to compete for other courses within the same institution and all courses offered by other participating institutions, subject to seat availability.Likewise, candidates who cancel their admission before the prescribed last date for admission in the second round will also be barred from admission to the same course at the same institution in the current round. However, they can apply for different courses at the same institution or courses offered by other participating colleges while the seats remain vacant.

The online upgrade and seat allocation process will continue until midnight on July 5, 2026.
