The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has issued an important update for candidates appearing for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (UGCET) counseling process 2026. The authority clarified that candidates who failed to enter their college and course preferences before the deadline will be given another chance after the mock seat allotment results are announced.According to KEA, the last date for recording preferences (also known as option entries) has now ended. However, candidates who missed the deadline need not worry as they will be allowed to enter their options in the next option entry window after the mock allocation results are declared.
KEA provides clarification on options input issues
KEA Executive Director IAS H. Prasanna said in an official statement that candidates who have not yet submitted their preferences can do so after the mock seat allocation results are announced. The authorities advise candidates to use this time to prepare a list of their preferred universities and courses so that they can quickly complete the option entry process when the next window opens.
Option modification will also be allowed
KEA also confirmed that following the first round of mock seat allocation, candidates will have the opportunity to:
- Enter your new university and course options.
- Modify submitted options.
- Submit the options if they haven’t entered any preferences before.
This means that both candidates who want to change their choices and those who missed the earlier deadline will be able to participate in the option entry process.
What Candidates Should Do Now
Candidates are advised to check the KEA official website regularly for updates on the mock allocation schedule and reopened option entry windows.KEA has assured candidates that they will be given another opportunity to complete or update their preferences and will not need to worry if they fail to submit their options by the original deadline.
