WFI rejects Vinesh Phogat's entries for three international matches

NEW DELHI:: In another snub to Vinesh Phogatthe Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has rejected his request to enter his name for three upcoming international tournaments, including the Hungary ranking series in Budapest.The federation cited his suspension period and an unsatisfactory response to his performance notice as reasons for the rejection.Vinesh had sought entries in the Spanish Grand Prix and Polyak Imre, Varga Janos and Kozma Istvan Memorial qualifying series in Budapest, scheduled for next month, and the Polish Open in Warsaw in August last as part of his comeback plans after failing to qualify for Aichi-Nagoya. Asian games.WFI sources said the federation did not send teams to the Spain and Poland events, while the entry for the Hungary meet had already been finalized before Vinesh ended his ineligibility period on June 26 – the last date to send entries for the Hungary meet was June 15.The federation has also argued that his suspension remains in effect pending disciplinary proceedings and a court hearing.Sources also said that Vinesh is not part of the national camp, has not competed in domestic events and has no national ranking.
