Director Craig Gillespie’s super action movie ‘Supergirl’ has started opening in India. The film, which had Millie Alcock in the lead, opened to a collection of Rs 1.40 crore nett on Day 1, a Sacnilk report said.
‘Supergirl’ India box office collection on first day
According to the initial sales figures, the DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures release was played in 2,967 screens, taking the total in India to Rs 1.67 crore. The movie which was released in several languages, got a lot of attention from the movie in English. Breaking down the language collections, the English version led the film with Rs 1.05 crore, followed by the Hindi version with Rs 20 lakh. The Tamil version fetched Rs 10 lakh, while the Telugu version fetched Rs 5 lakh.
‘Supergirl’ takes on ‘Welcome to the Jungle’
In India, ‘Supergirl’ faced tough competition from ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, which starred Akshay Kumar. The comedian had already made a strong showing at the box office, collecting Rs 3.75 crore net (around Rs 4.50 crore gross) before its release. On its first day, the Indian comedy collected Rs 15 crore from 10,892 shows, taking its India total to Rs 18.75 crore and India gross to Rs 22.50 crore.Overseas, the film has collected Rs 6.50 crore, taking its total worldwide to Rs 29 crore.
‘Supergirl’ makes USD 13 million debut at the American box office
‘Supergirl’ also got off to a strong start in North America, earning $7.8 million from Thursday viewings at the US box office and $13 million worldwide on its opening day. According to Deadline, the film is on track to make $40 million.

‘Supergirl’ follows Alcock’s character Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, who made her appearance in ‘Superman’ (2025). The film, which also stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa, is the second release in the new DC Universe directed by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
