this central board of secondary education (CBSE) Class 12 revaluation results were released on June 22, bringing with it a remarkable success story from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Avani Kejriwal, a commerce student from Delhi Public School (DPS), SAIL Town, Dhurva, saw her marks rise significantly after re-evaluation and eventually secured a perfect 500 out of 500 marks, making her among the top commerce stream performers in the country. This achievement once again highlights the importance of the re-evaluation process, whereby students can seek a review of their answer sheets when they feel their performance has not been accurately assessed.
From 95.2% to full score
When the CBSE Class 12 results were announced on May 13, Avani secured 95.2 per cent, a score that reflected strong academic performance. However, she remains unconvinced that the scores in certain subjects met her expectations.Although she had achieved full marks in three subjects, she felt there were differences in the assessment of some papers, particularly English and business studies.
Confidence in her performance leads to reassessment
According to an interview with Asia News International (ANI), Awani said that she was completely confident in the quality of her answers and therefore chose to apply for re-evaluation.“Everyone is happy now. We were not expecting 500 points, but everyone is happy. I got 19 points deducted in English, which I did not expect. English is my favorite subject and my strongest one. That’s why I applied for reassessment. Business Studies was also deducted 5 points. I had scored 100/100 in 3 subjects. Now my score has increased by 24 points,” she told ANI.Her confidence ultimately proved justified.
Score increased by 24 after review
After the re-evaluation process, CBSE revised her marks upward, resulting in an overall improvement of 24 points. This revision changed her overall score to a perfect 500 out of 500.Avani achieved perfect scores in all five core business subjects (English Core, Accounting, Business Studies, Economics and Applied Mathematics). She also scored 99 marks in the additional subject Graphics. The revised score placed her among the top achievers in business and turned an already stellar performance into an extraordinary achievement.
Why the Avani case is compelling
Thousands of students apply for validation and reassessment every year in the hope of addressing potential errors in the assessment process. In most cases, marking changes are limited. However, significant increases are relatively rare.Avani’s case is notable not only because it jumped out to 24 points, but also because it received a perfect score. Her experience shows how reassessment mechanisms play a key role in ensuring students receive grades that accurately reflect their performance.
A story about faith and perseverance
For Avani and her family, the revised results are more than just an academic milestone. This demonstrates the value of trusting one’s preparation and pursuing available remedies when there is real confidence in one’s performance. From an initial 95.2 per cent to a perfect 500 after re-evaluation, Avani Kejriwal’s result has become one of the most high-profile stories of this year’s CBSE Class 12 exam cycle, underscoring the impact a second review can sometimes have on a student’s future.
