Many people in the southern region of the country were forced to leave their homes due to unpredictable winds and persistent fires. However, the couple wrote a letter of encouragement to the mayor of Brignoles, where they live with their 9-year-old twins.

George and Amal stood with their French team during the destruction, when the fire affected France, Spain, Italy, and Greece. The couple, who live in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southern France, confirmed their departure from the authorities. “Dear Didier, at the moment we don’t know if our beautiful home will survive this difficult time,” the letter read, per PEOPLE. “When we leave Brignoles, we want to emphasize 2 things: firstly, we hope that you and the people of our city are safe and secondly that Amal and I are committed to ensure that whatever happens in our village, we are part of this community and we will be part of making everything (sic),” the note concluded, adding, “We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.”In an interview with Esquire in 2025, George Clooney talked about living a bigger life than the chaotic culture of Hollywood. “A good part of my life growing up was on the farm, and when I was a kid, I hated the whole idea,” he explained of his decision to make France his early home, adding, “But now, for them, it’s like – they’re not on their iPads, you know? They eat dinner with the adults and they have to take their plates.” They live a very good life. “
