What would you do if you had an engineering degree, a corporate job offer with a salary of Rs 5 lakh and a chance to build a traditional career? For most people, the answer is simple: take the job.But Mayuri Nitin Kale chose a different path.Instead of moving to Pune to take up a corporate role, she returned to Nashik with her young daughter, turned down the job and opened a small juice shop without any business experience.Less than two years later, the decision changed her life. Today, her business’s monthly net profit is reported to be around Rs 80,000, with annual revenue said to be close to Rs 50 lakh. Her experience shows that sometimes success comes not from choosing the safest option, but from choosing the option that aligns with your priorities.

An engineer who chose family over corporate career

Mayuri grew up in Songaon in Niphad taluka of Maharashtra and excelled in academics. She completed her bachelor’s degree in electronics and began building her career.Soon after completing her engineering, she got married. Later, she became a mother, which brought new responsibilities and new priorities into her life.To enhance her skills, she also completed an electric vehicle design course. Her efforts paid off and she received a corporate job offer with an annual salary of Rs 5 lakh. There is only one challenge. The job required her to move to Pune, away from her family and young daughter. For many, this will be an opportunity too good to turn down. But Mayuri believed that at that stage of her life, staying close to her family was more important than the company’s title.

A small juice stall became her biggest opportunity

Around the same time, Mayuri’s husband made some completely unexpected suggestions.Instead of looking for another job, run a juice farm shop on College Road in Rupee, Nashik She had never managed a business before. She had no retail experience. She does not come from a business family. But she chose to give entrepreneurship a chance. In February 2024, Mayuri officially took over the store.Just as she was beginning to learn about the industry, another challenge arrived. Her husband almost immediately left for work in Iran, leaving her to manage the business largely alone.

Balancing career, family and motherhood

Life was anything but easy. From early morning until around 11 p.m., Mayuri manages the Juice Center’s customers, inventory, vendors, accounts and operations.Once she returns home, family responsibilities and childcare await her. There were also moments of exhaustion and self-doubt.But instead of giving up, she focused on improving a little bit every day.She learned how to effectively manage inventory, understand customer preferences, improve service quality, and organize her time better. Her biggest lesson is that discipline and consistency are more important than previous business experience.

Quality and customer trust have become her biggest advantages

Instead of just competing on price, Mayuri decided to differentiate itself in two ways. She focuses on keeping the quality consistent with every drink. She also personally interacts with customers to explain the health benefits of fresh juice and ensure they have a positive experience. Many customers who initially came in out of curiosity became regulars.Word-of-mouth recommendations gradually helped the business grow.As foot traffic increases, so do sales, profits and confidence.

From a single channel to a bigger entrepreneurial dream

Within months, Mayuri began to see encouraging financial results.Today, her juice business reportedly makes a monthly profit of around Rs 80,000, with annual revenue estimated at close to Rs 50 lakh. The business also creates employment opportunities for others, with employees helping with day-to-day operations.Mayuri doesn’t stop there, she has extended her entrepreneurial journey by becoming a partner in another business, showing that one successful business can often become the basis for many more businesses.

Her most important message isn’t about business, it’s about courage

Looking back, Mayuri considers turning down the corporate job one of the most important decisions of her life. She often says that starting a business doesn’t always require years of experience or huge investments. What it really takes is the courage to start. Her advice to aspiring entrepreneurs, especially female entrepreneurs, is simple: Don’t let fear determine your future.Today, the engineering graduate who once worried about turning down a secure job has built something she’s proud to call her own.Her story reminds us that success doesn’t always come from rising up the corporate ladder. Sometimes it starts with a small shop, unwavering determination, and the courage to believe in yourself.Disclaimer: This article is based on public interviews, reports and information about Mayuri Nitin Kale and her entrepreneurial journey.
