Politician Kamal Haasan has extended his support to students protesting in Delhi-NCR over the NEET paper leak and the alleged suicide of students linked to the controversy. The ‘Indian’ actor shared a powerful message on X (formerly Twitter), calling for rapid change in education.
Kamal Haasan wants education to change
In his letter, Kamal addressed what he described as a growing problem in education. He said that the voices of the students did not receive due attention.Kamal wrote: “We should have listened when one child cried. Instead, we waited until many of our children died. The system where teaching replaces learning, worry replaces interest, and crime replaces honor is rotten.Apart from expressing solidarity with the students, Kamal also addressed Sonam Wangchuk in his message. He asked Mr. Wangchuk to end his fast, saying that the country will continue to need his leadership in the days to come.He added, “@Wangchuk66, the country will need your conscience in the journey ahead. Please break your fast. To the children of India: You are the best of us. You have done your job. Now is the time for the world to do its work with you. May your dreams be forever bigger than our failures. @cockroachisback #CJPProtest.”
Tovino Thomas also disputes the alleged use of force
Earlier, Malayalam actor Tovino Thomas also participated in the ongoing show. He criticized the alleged use of force against peaceful protests and said that young people who want answers should not face oppression. The ‘Lokah’ actor wrote, “Rights and wrongs may be relative, but this is not the way to deal with peaceful protests. When the future generation of a nation speaks, and their voices are met by oppressive forces, it is the future that is being oppressed. It is the faith in democracy that is being removed. What did these students do wrong? What did they really do? For a just, peaceful, every part of our country, I extend my wholehearted cooperation. The right to dissent is not a threat to democracy; in fact it is one of its foundations. And to anyone who wants to question my patriotic views, I know myself better than you. This transcends politics, religion, and all kinds of divisions. My politics and humanity. My faith is peace. Jai Hind.”Meanwhile, in response to Tovino Thomas’ post, supporters of the popular party staged a protest outside the actor’s residence, according to Manorama Online.
